Privacy policy
This policy explains what JoJo Pierre Books collects when you use jojopierrebooks.com, why, and what you can ask us to do about it. It is written to be read, not to be survived.
The short version
If you do not join the mailing list, we collect nothing about you. This site runs no analytics, no advertising, and no tracking of any kind. Nobody is measuring which pages you read.
If you do join the mailing list, your email address goes to Kit, our email provider, and is used to send you what you asked for and nothing else. That is the entire story. The rest of this page is the detail.
Who we are
This site is jojopierrebooks.com, operated by JoJo Pierre Books. If you have a question about anything here, or want to make a request about your data, email Info@JoJoPierreBooks.com.
The mailing list
If you subscribe to The Boarding Pass, ask for the Pre-Flight Checklist, or ask to be told when a book comes out, we collect:
- Your email address, and your first name if you give it
- The date and time you subscribed, and the IP address you subscribed from
- Which form you used — recorded as a tag, so we know whether you came from the checklist page, the footer, or a specific book
- Whether you open our emails and which links you click
We use this to send you the Pre-Flight Checklist, to send The Boarding Pass four times a year, and to tell you when a new book is out if you asked to be told. We do not send anything else, and we do not sell, rent, or trade your address to anyone.
Our email provider is Kit (kit.com, formerly ConvertKit), a company based in the United States. Your details are stored on Kit’s systems, which means they are transferred to and processed in the United States. Kit processes this data on our instructions and is not permitted to use it for its own purposes. Kit is the only company we share your information with.
You are added as soon as you submit the form, and the first email — the thing you asked for — arrives straight away. Every email we send carries an unsubscribe link, and using it removes you immediately.
Our legal basis is your consent. You can withdraw it at any time using the unsubscribe link at the bottom of every email we send, or by emailing us. When you unsubscribe we stop sending immediately and remove your record; we keep a minimal suppression entry so that a later import cannot accidentally re-subscribe you.
Cookies
This site sets no analytics, advertising, or tracking cookies. We do not use Google Analytics or any equivalent, and we do not run advertising. The only cookies here are the ones needed to make the site work:
- Complianz — the consent manager. It remembers the choice you made in the cookie notice, so you are not asked again on every page.
- LiteSpeed Cache — page caching, which is what makes the site load quickly. It stores copies of pages, not information about you.
- Loginizer — login protection. It records failed login attempts, including the IP address they came from, to block automated attacks on the admin login. This applies to people trying to log in, not to reading the site.
These are necessary for the site to function and to stay secure, so they are set without asking. None of them builds a profile of you, and none of them sends anything to a third party. You can clear or block them in your browser settings, though the site may behave oddly if you do.
Buying a book
Books are sold through Amazon, and clicking a buy button takes you to Amazon’s site. What happens there is governed by Amazon’s privacy policy, not ours — we receive no personal information about you from those purchases.
This site also runs WooCommerce, which powers the store pages. No checkout is currently switched on and this site takes no payments. If that ever changes, this section will be updated before it accepts a single order.
Contact
If you write to us, we receive what you typed and your email address, and we keep it for as long as it takes to deal with your message and a reasonable period afterwards. We do not add people who write to us onto the mailing list.
Children
Some of our books are written for children, but this website is addressed to adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Every signup form on this site is directed to parents and guardians, and none is placed to invite a child to subscribe. If you believe a child has given us their details, email us and we will delete the record.
How long we keep things
Mailing list records are kept until you unsubscribe. Messages you send us are kept while we need them to answer you. Security logs are kept for a short period and then discarded.
Your rights
You can ask us to show you what we hold about you, correct it, delete it, or stop using it. Email Info@JoJoPierreBooks.com and we will respond. You do not need a reason, and asking costs you nothing.
If you are in the UK or the EU, you also have the right to complain to your national data protection authority. If you are in California, you have the right to know what is collected and to ask for deletion, and we do not sell personal information.
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that affects you, we will update the date at the top and, where the change is significant, say so in the next issue of The Boarding Pass.
